The Middle East is a region where cars and truck is king and fuel is inexpensive, frequently leaving little incentive to discover more environmentally-friendly ways of moving around.

But this year, as demonstrations across the Middle East have actually risen the cost of oil, the issue of discovering alternative sources of fuel has come into sharp focus.
